A lot of these old blues dudes were bitter about the success of the generation that came after, and maybe they had some reason to be. But literally everything King says is wrong. Doesn't know the name of the song, thinks "Foxy Lady" is representative of Jimi's entire catalog. When the interviewer mentions an actual BLUES song Jimi did: "Yeah, I think I heard it once." He clearly isn't even familiar with the track, but he speaks on what it LACKS? He also seems to think Jimi was all just pedals and tricks. By that logic, anyone with a similar set-up should have been just as good, right? Where were they? Where ARE they? People now have pedalboards that make Jimi's look like it came from the stone age, and there STILL hasn't been anyone who can sound like him. I know he's one of the old respected names and all that, but King was talking out of his ass. Jimi would have played circles around him.

I had a similar experience! British amps I've tried (Marshall, Vox AC30) had better clarity and definition when overdriven, whereas Fenders I tried sounded muddy to me when overdriven. Just my experiences.

I knew that upper carving on a strat would come in handy one day.

I would agree the vibrato of the shin ei univibes, the gypsy vibe v2, and other photocell resistor based traditional univibes are definitely majorly underrated on the vibrato side. In fact I even read somewhere in a comment elsewhere that hendrix apparently even preferred the vibrato side, especially for tracks like hey baby/new rising sun live at maui. Someone correct me and fact check me immediately if im incorrect. Dont wanna spread misinfo. Cause that surprised me, i thought he pretty much only used the chorus side mainly. But yea I have no idea why everyone sticks to the chorus side of it soooooo heavily when there really is some SUPER SUPER TASTY AND SPICY riffs and tones out of the vibrato side. I still can't wait to be working again. And save up for a gypsy vibe v2. God I want the cv7003 fuzz so badly too since it's so nearly sold out and it's the one that just had that right perfect sound for me not too broken. Just broken enough, and warm, not quite as harsh but still very wooly fuzz. That's the type of fuzz I love, funny cause jimi and most others preferred silicon, dunno if they even still have them in stock or if they've run out of transistors yet. I just feel those two especially would sound amazing with my fender tweed blues deluxe reissue and vintage fender champion 600 and 2016 American stratocaster, basically like the equivalent of the american professional I or II now since that was the last year they made the american standard. Then I want a texan twang pedal of course and an octone if I can squeeze that in eventually to be like my octavia. And then the only non pedal pawn pedals I want or am looking at is a keely Andy Timmons halo delay/echo pedal, a keeley dark side pedal to replace the one I had that I sold stupidly. And then one of the new either vox real mccoy wah or vox v846 wah they made this year and are waiting to release unless they have by now. Oh yeah and of course I badly want a blueprint hahaha who doesn't with its versatility on the inner switches. But yeah I definitely wanna build a mostly pedal pawn pedal board, love the products and passion going into them. I'd settle for silicon fuzz if the benson temperature controlled germanium fuzz pedal didn't absolutely and completely sell me of germanium forever. So I'm dead set on Ge fuzz haha.
